Utah Food Bank Closing to External Volunteers

Posted on

As of Monday, April 6, Utah Food Bank will not be accepting volunteers at their Salt Lake City warehouse. Utah Food Bank has made this decision to ensure the safety of its staff and volunteers, along with upholding the highest standards for food safety and handling procedures.

This change will allow Utah Food Bank to ensure continued employment for its staff members whose job duties have been eliminated due to the various school and facility closures in place.  We will still be operating at full (and often increased) capacity and will work diligently to ensure that the needs of Utahns facing hunger are met.

Please note that this change does not currently apply to our St. George facility or to volunteers who deliver food boxes, and will be re-evaluated on a regular basis as this situation evolves.

If you have volunteer shifts currently scheduled for the coming weeks, you will be contacted by our Volunteer Department to let you know of this change, and we will reschedule your shift as soon as it’s safe to open for volunteers.

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support since this crisis began, and will continue to keep you updated on our efforts to help those in need, and how our amazing community can help us do so.  We invite you to watch our social media channels for the most up-to-date information regarding our efforts and needs.
