Opened in 2024 to enhance support for San Juan and Grand counties, in addition to the Navajo Nation, Utah Food Bank Southeastern Distribution Center in Blanding spans 18,000 square feet. Attached to this facility is an 1,800 square-foot pantry offering both fresh and non-perishable foods that area residents can access for assistance.
Utah Food Bank Southeastern Distribution Center is poised as a central hub for an efficient distribution model in the region, where Utahns face considerably higher rates of hunger compared to the state average. In fact, childhood hunger is twice as prevalent in southeastern Utah as it is across the state. We anticipate serving more than half of San Juan County residents alone from our pantries in Blanding, Montezuma Creek and Monument Valley.
Last year, we distributed 1.5 million pounds of food in San Juan and Grand counties, equivalent to 1.2 million meals.
